Restoration of a 1961 Chrysler 300G Engine For Display

There was an ad on Ebay for a G engine that had been stored for many years. The engine was original and mostly complete, and not too far away. This picture is from the ad.

Chrysler built about 1,617 of these. The standard engine is a 413 CID, 4.188x 3.75, 375 HP, 10.1/1 CR with dual 4 bbl Carter AFB 2903S carbs on a cross ram manifold. I hauled it home on January 25th, 2009 , one cold wintery day. My truck recorded an outside temperature of minus 3 on the trip down, it was only 6 degrees when we loaded it later that morning.

This is what it looked like at the shop.

The block stamp with the all-important G engine codes, R 41 HP.

Time to jump into the disassembly.
